Terminates the bottom end of each 5/16" upper shroud wire (3.3) and pins to the center/upper hole of the hull-side cap shroud chainplate (3.5) via an integral forged lower toggle jaw (1/2" clevis pin). Provides primary athwartships mast plumbing and cap-shroud tensioning (typically 12%–15% of wire breaking strength). Open-Body Chrome-over-Bronze Toggle Turnbuckle (Hayn 12ETJ or C.S. Johnson 26-508) + Swaged or Reusable Mechanical Stud.
Forged bronze turnbuckle barrels with stainless studs eliminate stainless-to-stainless thread galling under heavy cap-shroud loads.
3.3 Upper Shroud Wire (Cap Shroud Cable, Port & Starboard)
Masthead over Spreader Tip to Outboard Hull Chainplate (Qty 2)
OEM Package: Seco South IP320-40-US ↗ (Hull #40 & Up Heavy Spec)
Wire Spec: 316SS-1X19-516 ↗ (Type 316L Stainless)
Diameter: 5/16" (7.94 mm) (Hull #40 & up; earlier hulls #1–39 used 9/32")
Pin-to-Pin Length: ~45' 1" (13.74 m) each (@ 2/3 open)
Breaking Strength: ~12,500 lbs (5,670 kg) each
Primary lateral standing rigging wires supporting the top of the Sparcraft I-365E ↗ mast athwartships. Runs from the masthead (3.1), over the outer grooved tip of the 3' 9" single airfoil spreader (3.4), down to the outboard hull sheer chainplate (3.5). Marine-Grade Type 316L 1×19 Stainless Steel Wire (5/16").
Per factory Fig. 25, Hull #40 (nauti NAIDOO) uses the heavy-spec 5/16" upper shrouds (largest wire diameter on the boat). Always replace port and starboard cap shrouds as a matched pair.
3.4 Spreader Tip Wire Clamp & Protective Spreader Boots
At Outer Tip of Port & Starboard Airfoil Spreaders (~24' 6" above deck, Qty 2 sets)
Spreader Tip Clamp: Rig-Rite / Sparcraft Airfoil Spreader Tip Plate & Set Screws
Spreader Boots: Taylor Made / Rig-Rite Molded UV Rubber or Leather Spreader Boots (Large)
Spreader Length: ~3' 9" (45.0" / 1.14 m) each
Wire Groove: Sized for 5/16" (7.94 mm) cap shroud wire
Clamps the continuous 5/16" upper shroud wire (3.3) into the outer tip of the port and starboard aluminum airfoil spreaders so the spreaders bisect the cap-shroud angle (~6° upward angle) and cannot slip vertically along the wire. Protective rubber or leather boots cover the metal tip clamps. Seize Wire + Install UV-Stabilized Rubber or Hand-Stitched Leather Spreader Boots.
Unbooted spreader tips rapidly chafe and tear the leech of the 130% roller-furling genoa when sheeted in tight.
3.5 Upper Shroud Chainplate (Center Hull-Side Cap Shroud Chainplate)
Port & Starboard Outboard Hull Sheer / Bulwark (Fig. 22, Qty 2)
OEM Chainplate: Seco South / Island Packet IP320-CP-US ↗
Material: Electropolished Type 316L Stainless Steel Flat Bar
Bar Stock: 1/4" × 2" × ~24" (6.35 × 50.8 mm) 316L SS
Pin Hole: 1/2" (12.7 mm) clevis pin
Mounting: Externally through-bolted at hull sheer
Heavy stainless chainplate mounted externally on the port and starboard hull sheer/bulwark (eliminating deck-penetration leaks through the balsa-cored side decks) and through-bolted with stainless backing plates into heavy hand-laid fiberglass knees bonded to the hull and interior cabinetry (Fig. 22). Inspect Chainplate Pin Holes & Sheer Thru-Bolts (No Routine Replacement Needed on External Chainplates).
Because IP-320 shroud chainplates are mounted externally on the hull sheer rather than passing through a wet deck core, they are fully visible for dye-penetrant inspection.
3.6 Upper Shroud Turnbuckle Boots & Shroud Rollers
Over Lower Turnbuckles & Lower 6' of Wire (Port & Starboard, Qty 2 sets)
Turnbuckle Boots: Davis Instruments #1452 ↗ (for 1/2" turnbuckles) or Cal June / Leather Boots

Boot Length: ~16"–18" full turnbuckle coverage
Wire Bore: 5/16" (8 mm) top cap
Slides over the open-body bronze turnbuckles (3.2) and lower clevis/cotter pins at the side decks so genoa sheets, staysail sheets, and crew ankles cannot snag on cotter pins. Ventilated White PVC or Leather Turnbuckle Boots (Open Bottom for Drainage).
Never seal the bottom of a turnbuckle boot with tape; air must circulate so rainwater drains freely.
3.7 Upper Shroud Clevis Pins & Split Cotter Pins
Chainplate Toggle Jaws & Turnbuckle Threads (Port & Starboard, Complete Kit)
Clevis Pins: Hayn CP12 ↗ (1/2" Type 316 SS, Qty 2–4)

Clevis Pin OD: 1/2" (12.7 mm)
Cotter Pins: 1/8" × 1" (3.2 × 25 mm) 316 SS
Secures the lower turnbuckle toggle jaws (3.2) to the port and starboard hull chainplates (3.5) and locks the upper and lower turnbuckle studs inside the open bronze turnbuckle barrels so they cannot unwind under rig vibration. Brand-New 1/2" Type 316 SS Clevis Pins + Single-Use 316 SS Split Cotter Pins (Never Use Ring-Dings on Turnbuckle Threads).
Bend cotter pin legs only 15°–20° and wrap with self-amalgamating silicone rigging tape inside the turnbuckle boot.
Factory Rigging Note (Fig. 25 — Hull #40 & Up Heavy Spec): Island Packet upgraded the Upper Shrouds from 9/32" wire (Hulls #1–39) to 5/16" wire with 1/2" clevis pins on Hull #40 (nauti NAIDOO) & up. Pin-to-pin length (~45' 1" each) is measured from the upper masthead terminal bearing point (3.1) to the lower turnbuckle clevis pin (3.2) with the turnbuckle set at 2/3 open.

Terminates the bottom end of each 9/32" forward lower shroud wire (4.3) and pins to the forward lower hull-side chainplate (4.4) via an integral forged lower toggle jaw (1/2" clevis pin). Controls mid-mast forward pre-bend and opposes the aft pull of the #5 Aft Lower Shrouds. Open-Body Chrome-over-Bronze Toggle Turnbuckle (Hayn 12ETJ or C.S. Johnson 26-508) + Swaged or Reusable Mechanical Stud.
Per Fig. 25, Hull #40 (nauti NAIDOO) upgraded the forward lower turnbuckle pins from 7/16" to 1/2" to match the cap shrouds and aft lowers.
4.3 Forward Lower Shroud Wire (Port & Starboard)
Spreader Root (~24' 0") to Forward Lower Hull Chainplate (Qty 2)
OEM Package: Seco South IP320-40-FLS ↗
Wire Spec: 316SS-1X19-932 ↗ (Type 316L Stainless)
Diameter: 9/32" (7.14 mm)
Pin-to-Pin Length: ~23' 8" (7.21 m) each (@ 2/3 open)
Breaking Strength: ~10,300 lbs (4,672 kg) each
Runs from the forward lower mast attachment below the spreaders (4.1) downward and forward (~16" forward of the mast centerline) to the forward lower hull chainplate (4.4). Prevents the middle of the Sparcraft in-mast furling spar from bowing aft or pumping in a seaway, keeping the internal mainsail furling extrusion straight so the mainsail furls without binding. Marine-Grade Type 316L 1×19 Stainless Steel Wire (9/32").
Always replace port and starboard forward lower shrouds together with the aft lower shrouds (#5) so mid-mast fore-and-aft tuning remains symmetrical.
4.4 Forward Lower Shroud Chainplate (Forward Hull-Side Chainplate)
Port & Starboard Outboard Hull Sheer Forward of Cap Shroud (Fig. 22, Qty 2)
OEM Chainplate: Seco South / Island Packet IP320-CP-FLS ↗
Material: Electropolished Type 316L Stainless Steel Flat Bar
Bar Stock: 1/4" × 2" × ~22" (6.35 × 50.8 mm) 316L SS
Pin Hole: 1/2" (12.7 mm) clevis pin
Position: Forwardmost of the 3 side chainplates
Externally mounted Type 316L stainless steel chainplate bolted through the port and starboard hull sheer/bulwark ~16" forward of the upper shroud chainplate (3.5) and backed by glassed-in structural marine plywood knees (Fig. 22). Inspect 1/2" Pin Hole & Exterior Sheer Bolts (Retain Existing 316L SS Chainplate).
Check for any bedding compound separation along the top edge of the external sheer bar during seasonal haul-out.
4.5 Forward Lower Turnbuckle Boots & Genoa Chafe Rollers
Over Lower Turnbuckles & Lower 6' of Wire (Port & Starboard, Qty 2 sets)
Turnbuckle Boots: Davis Instruments #1452 ↗ (for 1/2" turnbuckles) or Leather Boots
Shroud Rollers: Schaefer / Davis Snap-On Shroud Rollers for 9/32" (7 mm) wire
Boot Size: Fits 1/2" open-body bronze turnbuckle
Roller Bore: 9/32" (7.14 mm) wire
Because the forward lower shrouds sit forward of the mast, the foot and sheets of the 130% genoa sweep directly across them during every tack. Snap-on shroud rollers and turnbuckle boots allow the genoa foot and sheets to roll smoothly past the forward lowers without hanging up. Full-Length Ventilated Turnbuckle Boots + 9/32" Snap-On Shroud Rollers (Highly Recommended on Forward Lowers).
4.6 Forward Lower Clevis Pins & Split Cotter Pins
Chainplate Toggle Jaws & Turnbuckle Threads (Port & Starboard, Complete Kit)

Cotter Pins: Suncor S0125-0031 ↗ (1/8" × 1" 316 SS Split Cotter Pins, Qty 6–8)
Clevis Pin OD: 1/2" (12.7 mm)
Cotter Pins: 1/8" × 1" (3.2 × 25 mm) 316 SS
Secures the lower turnbuckle toggle jaws (4.2) to the port and starboard forward lower chainplates (4.4) and locks both threaded studs inside the open-body bronze turnbuckle barrels. Brand-New 1/2" Type 316 SS Clevis Pins + Single-Use 316 SS Split Cotter Pins.
Factory Rigging Note (Fig. 25 — Hull #40 & Up Heavy Spec): On Hull #40 (nauti NAIDOO) & up, the Forward Lower Shrouds use 9/32" wire with upgraded 1/2" clevis pins (earlier hulls #1–39 used 7/16" pins). Pin-to-pin length (~23' 8" each) is measured from the upper mast terminal bearing point (4.1) to the lower turnbuckle clevis pin (4.2) with the turnbuckle set at 2/3 open. When tuning the Sparcraft I-365E ↗ in-mast furling spar, tension the forward lowers (#4) and aft lowers (#5) equally so the mast section stays dead straight (zero pre-bend) for smooth mainsail furling.

Wire Size: 9/32" (7.14 mm)
Thread: 1/2"-20 UNF
Chainplate Clevis Pin: 1/2" (12.7 mm) (Hull #40 & up heavy spec)
Setting: Set at 2/3 Open for baseline measurement
Terminates the bottom end of each 9/32" aft lower shroud wire (5.3) and pins to the aft lower hull-side chainplate (5.4) via an integral forged lower toggle jaw (1/2" clevis pin). Provides aft mid-mast support opposing both the #2 Staysail Stay and the #4 Forward Lower Shrouds. Open-Body Chrome-over-Bronze Toggle Turnbuckle (Hayn 12ETJ or C.S. Johnson 26-508) + Swaged or Reusable Mechanical Stud.
Per Fig. 25, Hull #40 (nauti NAIDOO) upgraded the aft lower turnbuckle pins from 7/16" to 1/2" so all 6 side shrouds (#3, #4, #5) share identical 1/2" chainplate pins.
5.3 Aft Lower Shroud Wire (Port & Starboard)
Spreader Root (~24' 0") to Aft Lower Hull Chainplate (Qty 2)
OEM Package: Seco South IP320-40-ALS ↗
Wire Spec: 316SS-1X19-932 ↗ (Type 316L Stainless)
Diameter: 9/32" (7.14 mm)
Pin-to-Pin Length: ~23' 10" (7.26 m) each (@ 2/3 open)
Breaking Strength: ~10,300 lbs (4,672 kg) each
Runs from the aft lower mast attachment below the spreaders (5.1) downward and aft (~18" aft of the mast centerline) to the aft lower hull chainplate (5.4). Because the IP-320 has no intermediate shrouds or running backstays, the aft lower shrouds carry the primary load opposing the forward pull of the #2 Staysail Stay and the mainsail outhaul/furling loads. Marine-Grade Type 316L 1×19 Stainless Steel Wire (9/32").
Note that the aft lower shrouds (~23' 10") are ~2" longer than the forward lower shrouds (~23' 8") due to the ~18" aft chainplate offset vs. ~16" forward offset; label them clearly before unstepping.
5.4 Aft Lower Shroud Chainplate (Aft Hull-Side Chainplate)
Port & Starboard Outboard Hull Sheer Aft of Cap Shroud (Fig. 22, Qty 2)
OEM Chainplate: Seco South / Island Packet IP320-CP-ALS ↗
Material: Electropolished Type 316L Stainless Steel Flat Bar
Bar Stock: 1/4" × 2" × ~22" (6.35 × 50.8 mm) 316L SS
Pin Hole: 1/2" (12.7 mm) clevis pin
Position: Aftmost of the 3 side chainplates
Externally mounted Type 316L stainless steel chainplate bolted through the port and starboard hull sheer/bulwark ~18" aft of the upper shroud chainplate (3.5) and backed by glassed-in structural marine plywood knees (Fig. 22). Inspect 1/2" Pin Hole & Exterior Sheer Bolts (Retain Existing 316L SS Chainplate).
Verify that the upper clevis pin hole is round and free of crevice staining.
5.5 Aft Lower Turnbuckle Boots & Boom/Sheet Chafe Rollers
Over Lower Turnbuckles & Lower 6' of Wire (Port & Starboard, Qty 2 sets)
Turnbuckle Boots: Davis Instruments #1452 ↗ (for 1/2" turnbuckles) or Leather Boots
Shroud Rollers: Schaefer / Davis Snap-On Shroud Rollers for 9/32" (7 mm) wire
Boot Size: Fits 1/2" open-body bronze turnbuckle
Roller Bore: 9/32" (7.14 mm) wire
Covers the open-body bronze turnbuckles (5.2) and protects the working genoa sheets and squared-off main boom when sailing downwind with the boom eased near the aft lower shrouds. Full-Length Ventilated Turnbuckle Boots + 9/32" Snap-On Shroud Rollers.
5.6 Aft Lower Clevis Pins & Split Cotter Pins
Chainplate Toggle Jaws & Turnbuckle Threads (Port & Starboard, Complete Kit)
Clevis Pins: Hayn CP12 ↗ (1/2" Type 316 SS, Qty 2–4)
Cotter Pins: Suncor S0125-0031 ↗ (1/8" × 1" 316 SS Split Cotter Pins, Qty 6–8)
Clevis Pin OD: 1/2" (12.7 mm)
Cotter Pins: 1/8" × 1" (3.2 × 25 mm) 316 SS
Secures the lower turnbuckle toggle jaws (5.2) to the port and starboard aft lower chainplates (5.4) and locks both threaded studs inside the open-body bronze turnbuckle barrels. Brand-New 1/2" Type 316 SS Clevis Pins + Single-Use 316 SS Split Cotter Pins.
Factory Rigging Note (Fig. 25 — Hull #40 & Up Heavy Spec): On Hull #40 (nauti NAIDOO) & up, the Aft Lower Shrouds use 9/32" wire with upgraded 1/2" clevis pins (matching #3 Upper Shrouds and #4 Forward Lower Shrouds). Pin-to-pin length (~23' 10" each) is measured from the upper mast terminal bearing point (5.1) to the lower turnbuckle clevis pin (5.2) with the turnbuckle set at 2/3 open. Because the aft lowers oppose the forward pull of the staysail stay (#2), always check mid-mast straightness up the mainsail furling slot when tensioning #4 and #5.

Connects the upper ends of the port and starboard twin backstays (6.3) to the two angled aft stainless tangs welded/bolted into the back of the Sparcraft I-365E ↗ masthead weldment (8.1). Because the twin backstays splay outward to the port and starboard transom quarters, the upper terminal must align with both the aft rake angle and the outboard splay angle. Factory Rotary-Swaged Jaw Terminal (Hayn 7SMJ14) + Forged 316 SS Jaw Toggle (Hayn 7FTJ) if Masthead Tang Is Fixed.
Ensure full 2-axis articulation at the masthead so neither backstay upper swage experiences side-bending loads.

Per Fig. 25, Hull #40 (nauti NAIDOO) upgraded the twin backstay turnbuckles and pins from 3/8" (Hulls #1–39) to 7/16".
6.3 Twin Backstay Wire (Port & Starboard Split Standing Backstays)
Masthead Aft Tangs to Port & Starboard Transom Quarters (Qty 2)
OEM Package: Seco South IP320-40-BS ↗ (Hull #40 & Up Heavy Spec)
Wire Spec: 316SS-1X19-14 ↗ (Type 316L Stainless)
Diameter: 1/4" (6.35 mm) (Hull #40 & up; earlier hulls #1–39 used 7/32")
Pin-to-Pin Length: ~46' 8" (14.22 m) each (@ 2/3 open)
Breaking Strength: ~8,200 lbs each (16,400 lbs combined pair)
Dual standing backstays running from the masthead aft tangs (6.1) to the port and starboard transom corners (6.4). Island Packet uses two independent full-time standing backstays (rather than a single backstay with a split bridal) for two reasons: (1) complete redundancy if one backstay or terminal ever fails offshore, and (2) an unobstructed centerline stern walk-through and folding swim ladder. Marine-Grade Type 316L 1×19 Stainless Steel Wire (1/4").
Tension both port and starboard backstays equally with a Loos gauge so the masthead stays centered over the boat's centerline while providing ~12%–15% tension against the 9/32" headstay.
6.4 Transom Quarter Backstay Chainplates (Port & Starboard)
Aft Hull/Transom Corners — Inside Port & Starboard Cockpit Lazarettes (Qty 2)
OEM Chainplate: Seco South / Island Packet IP320-CP-BS ↗

Factory Rigging Note (Fig. 25 — Hull #40 & Up Heavy Spec): Island Packet upgraded the Twin Backstays from 7/32" wire with 3/8" pins (Hulls #1–39) to 1/4" wire with 7/16" clevis pins on Hull #40 (nauti NAIDOO) & up. Pin-to-pin length (~46' 8" each) is measured from the upper masthead terminal pin (6.1) to the lower turnbuckle clevis pin (6.2) with the turnbuckle set at 2/3 open. Combined breaking strength of the two 1/4" backstays is ~16,400 lbs—roughly 60% higher than the single 9/32" headstay (~10,300 lbs).

Connects the bottom end of the solid-rod bobstay (7.3) to the heavy stainless/bronze stem eye fitting through-bolted horizontally through the solid fiberglass bow stem just above the waterline (Fig. 23B–23C). Anchors the entire cutter foretriangle load into the solid fiberglass bow stem. Forged Type 316L SS Clevis Jaw + Inspect Through-Bolted Stem Eye & Backing Plate Inside Anchor Locker.
Because the lower bobstay jaw sits in the constant bow-wave splash zone, rinse with fresh water and check the 1/2" clevis pin and cotter pin before and after every offshore passage.
7.3 Solid-Rod Bobstay Bar (Bowsprit Structural Tie-Down Rod)
Bowsprit Tip Cranze Tang to Bow Stem Cutwater (Fig. 23A–C & Fig. 25, Qty 1)
OEM Package: Seco South IP320-40-BOB ↗
Material Spec: 5/8" Solid Type 316L or Nitronic 50 Stainless Steel Bar
Rod Diameter: 5/8" (15.9 mm) solid round bar
Pin-to-Pin Length: ~4' 4" (52.0" / 1.32 m)
Tensile Capacity: >18,000 lbs
Per factory drawings Fig. 23A–23C and Fig. 25, Island Packet uses a solid stainless steel rod (rather than 1×19 stranded wire) for the bobstay. A solid rod has no internal wire strands to trap salt water and suffer hidden crevice corrosion in the bow wave, and resists damage from anchor chains and mooring pendants. Retain & Polish Solid 5/8" Type 316L / Nitronic 50 Rod (Or Replace with New Seco South Solid Rod Assembly if Threads Are Pitted).
Never replace the solid-rod bobstay with stranded 1×19 wire without a protective PVC/urethane chafe sleeve against the anchor chain.
7.4 Bobstay Threaded Adjustment Ends & Locking Jam Nuts
Upper & Lower Threaded Rod Ends (Fig. 23A–C, Qty 1 set)
Adjustment Threads: Machined 5/8"-18 UNF Rod Threads
Locking Jam Nuts: 2× Type 316L SS Heavy Hex Jam Nuts (5/8"-18 UNF)
Thread Spec: 5/8"-18 UNF
Adjustment Range: ~2.0" (50 mm) total thread engagement
Per Fig. 23A–23C ( Bobstay Installation & Adjustment Procedure), the bobstay is tensioned via its threaded clevis jaw ends and locked with heavy stainless jam nuts to pre-load the molded bowsprit downward slightly (~1/16"–1/8") before tensioning the #1 Headstay. Coat 5/8"-18 Threads with Tef-Gel® or MareLube™ Anti-Seize Before Locking Jam Nuts.
Always slack the #1 Headstay and #6 Twin Backstays before turning the bobstay adjustment threads so the 5/8" stainless threads never gall under load.
7.5 Bobstay High-Load Clevis Pins & Heavy Split Cotter Pins
Upper Bowsprit Cranze Tang & Lower Cutwater Stem Eye (Qty 2 sets)
Clevis Pins: Hayn CP12 ↗ (1/2" Type 316L / Nitronic 50 Clevis Pins, Qty 2)
Cotter Pins: Suncor S0125-0032 ↗ (1/8" × 1-1/4" 316 SS Split Cotter Pins, Qty 2)
Clevis Pin OD: 1/2" (12.7 mm) × ~1-1/2" grip
Cotter Pins: 1/8" × 1-1/4" (3.2 × 32 mm) 316 SS
The two 1/2" bobstay clevis pins carry the entire multiplied downward reaction force of the #1 Headstay, genoa halyard/sheet loads, and bowsprit anchor rollers. Because the lower pin sits near the waterline and can be struck by mooring lines or anchor chains, cotter pin security here is critical. Replace Both 1/2" Clevis Pins & Heavy 1/8" Split Cotter Pins Every 3–5 Years (Never Use Ring-Dings on the Bobstay).
Wrap the lower cotter pin smoothly with self-amalgamating silicone tape so mooring pennants cannot catch the cotter pin legs and pull the pin out.
Factory Rigging Note (Fig. 23A–23C — Bobstay Details & Adjustment): The Bobstay is the structural foundation of the Island Packet 320's integral bowsprit and outer forestay (#1 Headstay). Because the bobstay meets the bowsprit at a shallow angle (~28°–30°), tension in the #1 Headstay induces roughly 1.6× to 1.8× higher tension in the Bobstay. Always inspect the two 1/2" bobstay clevis pins (7.5), the bowsprit cranze tang (7.1), and the cutwater stem eye (7.2) at every haul-out.

Holds the #3 Upper Shrouds (3.3) outboard at a wide staying angle while allowing the main boom to ease far outboard running downwind. Inspect Spreader Root Pins & Confirm ~6° Upward Bisecting Angle at Outer Tips (3.4).
Never allow spreader tips to droop below horizontal; drooping tips put downward bending stress on the spreader root bracket under cap-shroud compression.

Anodized aluminum keel-stepped spar housing the internal mainsail roller-furling mandrel and drum. Passes through the coachroof partner collar (Fig. 17, wedged with a 360° rubber partner wedge and sealed with a vinyl/canvas mast boot) and steps on a cast aluminum shoe bolted to the structural fiberglass keel floor timber with a heavy copper/tinned lightning ground strap. Keep Keel Step Drain Limber Holes Clear, Inspect Delrin Base Pad & Maintain UV Cover Over Deck Mast Boot.
Standing bilge water around an aluminum mast heel causes galvanic pitting; ensure the cast step sits on its composite/Delrin isolation pad and drains freely to the deep bilge sump.
8.4 Bowsprit Tip Cranze Tang & Dual Anchor Roller Weldment
Forward Nose of Integral Molded Bowsprit at J = 14' 8" (Fig. 23A, Qty 1)
OEM Weldment: Seco South / Island Packet IP320-CRANZE ↗

Per Fig. 22 (Chainplate Detail), all 6 side shroud chainplates on the IP-320 bolt externally to the hull sheer/bulwark into glassed-in structural knees rather than penetrating the balsa-cored side decks—one of Island Packet's best structural features because it prevents hidden core rot and crevice corrosion inside deck slots. Inspect External Chainplates Visually & Torque Interior Backing Nuts Every 5 Years.
Clean and polish the exposed stainless flat bars with Spotless Stainless or Flitz to maintain a passive chromium-oxide surface film.
